Nursery Rhymes

Purple Ampersand

During the Bambino&i massage course you will often sing nursery rhymes as part of class routines. Speaking and signing to your baby greatly helps their cognitive, speech and language development. It helps them to identify your voice and learn the basics of language. Babies are also attracted to pitch and rhythm. So, even if you don’t like the sound of your singing voice, remember that your baby loves it! If you really can’t bring yourself to sing, just say the nursery rhymes to them. Remember that your voice, however you think it sounds, is music to your baby’s ears. Babies love to hear their parents’ voice and it gives them a lot of comfort.

Nursery rhymes provide a lovely, simple way to communicate with baby. Often, parents just don’t know what to say to their baby. And as babies can’t speak back, many feel awkward, silly and can become tongue-tied. This is natural, particularly as many of us haven’t had much experience with babies.

To help you on your way, we have provided the words to the nursery rhymes that you will use during your massage classes.

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake
Baker’s man,
Bake me a cake
As fast as you can,
Pat it and prick it
And mark it with ‘B’,
Put it in the oven for baby and me
